SCIENCE DEPARTMENT
Kurt Pattison is originally from Denver Colorado and quickly found himself pulled towards Durango by the fantastic stories of adventure told by his twin brother during holiday.  He enjoys getting his hands dirty which inspired an associate’s degree in automotive mechanics and a love for restoration.  He studied Architectural Engineering at CU Boulder, earned a BA in Journalism and Mass Communication from Fort Lewis before diving deep into the world of outdoor adventure and travel.  After living in Hawaii for two years Durango called again. Settling with the freedom of a backpack, the speed of the bicycle and the challenge of Rock Climbing Durango became his home. He has lived and worked as a farmer, dairy farmer, carpenter, writer, mechanic and cook.  Experience with Durango Nature Studies inspired a love of education and led him to complete studies at Fort Lewis for a certificate in Secondary Sciences.  Kurt is excited to have the opportunity to be a part of Animas High School and to explore the benefits of project based learning.  There is always so much to learn!
