Dear Osprey Community,
The Animas High School Board of Directors is pleased to announce the hiring of Sean Woytek as Head of School.  Sean has been selected following a nation-wide search for qualified candidates and our subsequent Bonanza process, which sought feedback from the entire Animas High School community–faculty, students, parents, staff, administration, board and community members.  Sean has recently served as Resident Director at the Chula Vista campus of High Tech High and will be awarded a M.Ed., School Leadership from the High Tech High Graduate School of Education in June. Before his experience at HTH, Sean spent many years teaching and supporting teachers’ professional development in the greater Denver area.  He also holds an M.A. in Executive Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Denver, and M.S., Emphasis in Integrating Technology into the Curriculum from Walden University and a B.A., Secondary Education, Social Studies from Mesa State College.  Sean brings strong pedagogical and instructional leadership and will be instrumental in further elevating the educational and cultural experiences of students at Animas High School.  Sean’s deep understanding of project-based learning in a college prep environment is unique and is a perfect fit for AHS’s mission, vision and values.
The Animas High School Board of Directors would like to extend our gratitude to our current Head of School, Jake Lauer.  Without Jake’s help, hard work and efforts, AHS would not be the strong organization we are today.  We would also like to thank the AHS community for their engagement, participation and commitment to excellence.
Please join us in welcoming Sean to Durango.  Look for an upcoming announcement of an AHS Town Hall in May where we will introduce Sean to the community.
