Mission
Ensuring that the school is fulfilling its mission and vision, supporting and evaluating the Head of School, monitoring and strengthening the school’s programs and services, providing financial oversight, ensuring legal and ethical integrity of the organization and enhancing the school’s public standing.  Board Meetings are open to the public.

SCHOOL EXCELLENCE COMMITTEE

Mission
The School Excellence Committee’s purpose is to cultivate, support and promote academic and cultural excellence for all students at Animas High School. This working group is responsible for developing and recommending policies to the Board consistent with the school charter and the promises made to our community. The SEC is also chartered with overseeing the ongoing evaluation of the school’s academic performance and developing strategies for academic improvement. As a standing Board Committee, the chair of the SEC provides periodic updates to the Board of Directors.

FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE

Mission
The Fundraising Committee serves as an advisory/working committee to cultivate sustainable relationships in order to maximize donations to support the school. The Committee will develop effective strategies to solicit donations from individuals, sponsorships from local businesses and organizations, grant funding and endowments from foundations. As a standing Board Committee, the chair of the Fundraising Committee provides periodic updates to the Board of Directors.

Mission
The Marketing and Communications Committee (MCC) serves as an advisory/working committee to the Board of Directors to promote awareness of Animas High School, ensure appropriate and timely communication with our families and increase and maintain enrollment numbers. The MCC will assist in the development of plans, strategies, programs and activities that support and facilitate the marketing and communications efforts for Animas High School, bringing AHSs mission and vision to life in the community. As a standing Board Committee, the chair of the Marketing and Communications Committee provides periodic updates to the Board of Directors.

ANIMAS HIGH SCHOOL BUILDING CORPORATION

Mission
The owning entity of our facility. (This corporation owns our site)

Super technical terms:The corporation is organized for and shall be operated exclusively for charitable or educational purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended (the “Code”). The purpose of the corporation is to hold title to property and otherwise act to facilitate the operations of Animas High School, a Colorado nonprofit corporation and charter school (the “Charter School”), and to otherwise promote public and charter school education, and specifically for the following activities:
(A) acquiring, leasing (as lessor or lessee), constructing, improving, equipping and financing various facilities, land, equipment and other improvements in connection with property intended to be leased to the Charter School, and in this connection and without limiting the generality of any of the foregoing, the corporation is empowered to hold, own, improve, use and otherwise deal in and with real and personal property, or any interest therein and to make contracts and incur liabilities, and to secure any of its obligations by mortgage, deed to secure debt, deed of trust, creation of a security interest in, or other encumbrances on or all or any part of its property, franchise and income; and
(B) any lawful act or activity for which nonprofit corporations may be organized under the Act (defined below), so long as the same are necessary, appropriate, suitable or convenient to accomplish the objects or purposes specified in subparagraph (i) above

    The Marketing and Communications Committee serves as an advisory/working committee to the Board of Directors on marketing and communications to promote awareness of Animas High School, ensure appropriate and timely communication with our families and increase and maintain enrollment numbers.

    The MCC will assist in the development of plans, strategies, programs, and activities that support, and facilitate the marketing and communications efforts for Animas High School. The committee will create a Marketing/Communications Plan for AHS and assist staff and AHS Board in bringing AHS’s mission and vision to life in the community.

    As a Standing Board Committee, the chair of the Marketing and Communications Committee will provide periodic updates to the Board of Directors.

This working group is responsible for developing and recommending policies to the Board consistent with the school charter and the promises made to our community. The SEC is also chartered with overseeing the ongoing evaluation of the school’s academic performance and developing strategies for academic improvement.

    The existence and performance of the SEC is intended to be a highly visible statement to the school community of AHS’ dedication to academic excellence and commitment to the school’s mission and core values.
