Before POLs, students practice their presentations and focus on specific public speaking skills, receive feedback from teachers and peers, refine and rehearse their POL delivery. At the end of second semester, presentations are used to determine whether students are ready to advance to the next grade. Transitional Presentations of Learning (tPOLs) are formal presentations where students must demonstrate mastery of grade level standards and their readiness to be promoted. Requirements for tPOLs are grade-level specific, but include an oral presentation, use of the student’s digital portfolio, and include artifacts from standards-bearing project work in the Humanities, Math and Science, Spanish, Digital Media, Advisory, SIGs and X-Blocks.
