Mike Bienkowski's Environmental Science Class will travel to Silverton on Monday, 4/27 to collect samples for their self-designed studies with the help of Mountain Studies Institute.

The School Excellence Committee’s purpose is to cultivate, support and promote academic and cultural excellence for all students at Animas High School. This working group is responsible for developing and recommending policies to the Board consistent with the school charter and the promises made to our community. The SEC is also chartered with overseeing the ongoing evaluation of the school’s academic performance and developing strategies for academic improvement. As a standing Board Committee, the chair of the SEC provides periodic updates to the Board of Directors.

Parents and caregivers are invited to join us monthly for coffee with members of the AHS Interim School Leadership Team. TWIGS Coffees are a great opportunity to hear about school updates, connect with other Animas families, share your feedback and get to know our staff. We often invite deans and teachers to join so they can share updates from their programs and classes as well.

Animas High School is proud to announce that our Spanish 3 and 4 students will be taking the STAMP (Standards-based Measurement of Proficiency) language proficiency assessment to earn the official State Seal of Biliteracy. This internationally recognized credential is granted to students who achieve an Intermediate-Mid proficiency level, validating their hard work and dedication to language learning. By earning this distinction, students prove they can communicate effectively in a global environment while gaining a significant advantage for their future academic and professional goals. Other key benefits include:

• College Credit: Earn up to 12 credits and skip introductory university courses.

• Transcript Distinction: Qualify for the State Seal of Biliteracy to boost your college apps.
