{"id":10457,"date":"2017-03-13T09:31:03","date_gmt":"2017-03-13T15:31:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/animashighschool.com\/staging\/?p=10457"},"modified":"2017-03-13T09:31:03","modified_gmt":"2017-03-13T15:31:03","slug":"dear-seniors-and-families-graduation-meeting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/animashighschool.com\/staging\/2017\/03\/13\/dear-seniors-and-families-graduation-meeting\/","title":{"rendered":"Dear Seniors and Families, Graduation Meeting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear Seniors and Families,<br \/>\nMany thanks to all who joined us at the Graduation Meeting last night! \u00a0We are excited to celebrate our fourth graduating class of Ospreys on Friday, May 26. \u00a0There are many important details to track, and we want to be sure that all the graduates-to-be and their families are in the loop, thus this lengthy email! \u00a0Please read it carefully and don\u2019t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.<br \/>\n<b>Graduation Week Events<\/b><br \/>\nThere are several events during the week of graduation that have become Animas traditions. \u00a0Please mark your calendar now and know that more information will be coming your way about the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Senior Celebration<\/b>, <b>Tuesday, May 23, 5:30-7:00pm<\/b>&#8211;This event is an opportunity for graduates and their families to acknowledge the support we receive from our broader community; it\u2019s a public event that helps us say thank you to all in our community who serve as guest speakers, LINK mentors, scholarship providers, etc. \u00a0This year, Senior Celebration will be held at the Rocket Grill in the FLC Student Union. \u00a0Seniors are definitely expected to attend and we will distribute caps\/gowns and tickets at this event. This is also where we\u2019ll debut the AHS Senior Celebration Book, a full-color booklet with photo, future plans and high school highlights for each graduate. \u00a0If you would like to support this event by reserving space in the booklet for your graduate\u2019s childhood photo, or to publish words of wisdom, advice or support- please contact Tracy Toner at tracytoner@icloud.com. Business advertisement space is also available. Please contact Shannon Smith at <a href=\"mailto:shannonbrook4@gmail.com\">shannonbrook4@gmail.com<\/a>. \u00a0See the attached fliers for more details.<\/li>\n<li><b>Senior Supper, Thursday, May 24, 6:00-8:00pm at AHS<\/b>&#8211;Senior Supper is a special evening the night before graduation that gives seniors and faculty one last time to gather together and appreciate one another. \u00a0Parents of juniors will organize and serve the dinner, which will happen on campus. \u00a0All seniors should plan to attend.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Graduation Rehearsal, Friday, May 26, 8:30-10am A full walk-through of the ceremony, in cap and gown. \u00a0Karen Skelly will take the class picture during rehearsal. All seniors must attend, and will be encouraged to head to Advisory Olympics in Santa Rita park when we wrap up.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Graduation Ceremony, Friday, May 26, 4:00-6:00pm<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Ordering Invitations\/Announcements, Caps and Gowns<\/b><br \/>\nWe are working with Jostens and our sales rep is Jim Howland. \u00a0His email is <a href=\"mailto:jim.howland@jostens.com\">jim.howland@jostens.com<\/a> and his phone number is (970) 259-9923.<br \/>\nWe have not designed a one-size-fits all graduation announcement for families. \u00a0If you would like to order announcements, you can design your own and order it through the Jostens website <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jostens.com\/apps\/store\/customer\/2309239\/Animas-High-School\/\">here<\/a>. \u00a0Our AHS page on the Jostens website will be fully loaded with AHS logo, crest, etc. by March 15 so that you can create announcements that are specifically Animas in flavor. \u00a0Prices for announcements\/invitations vary depending on your design. \u00a0They can be ordered at anytime and will be shipped directly to your home.<br \/>\nAll AHS graduates are expected to wear a green gown, a gold sash with the school crest, a green cap and a gold and green tassel with the year on it. \u00a0The full package costs $55 and it cannot be ordered online. \u00a0To order your cap and gown, get a printed order form from Bridget at the Main Office, complete it and mail or fax it to Jim. \u00a0<b><i>\u00a0All cap and gown orders must be complete by Friday March 31 to guarantee delivery!<\/i><\/b><br \/>\nYou are welcome to borrow a cap and gown from an older sibling or alumni, but you will need a new tassel. \u00a0Tassels cost $10 and should be ordered through Josten\u2019s by completing the order form and sending payment directly to Jim Howland. \u00a0Please contact me if you are interested in borrowing a cap and gown from the school; we have a few to loan out, with the intent being that they are primarily for families with financial need.<br \/>\n<b>Tickets for Graduation Ceremony<\/b><br \/>\nReserved seating for families and guests of graduates will be in the lower portion of the Concert Hall, the Orchestra and Plaza sections. We are able to allocate 6 tickets in the reserved seating area to each graduate, for those who want them. \u00a0There may very well be more than 6 tickets available to your family, if other graduates don&#8217;t use all of the tickets allotted to them.<br \/>\nThe bulk of the Balcony section of the theater will be set aside for non-ticketed, general admission audience members. \u00a0If you have additional guests wishing to attend the ceremony who are not accommodated with your reserved seating group, they will be able to sit in this section. \u00a0Please be assured that there is no such thing as a \u201cbad\u201d seat at the venue, and all attendees will be able to view the stage and hear the proceedings. \u00a0There is no cost for tickets, whether reserved or general admission. \u00a0Reserved tickets will be distributed to families at the Senior Celebration on May 24.<br \/>\n<i>Please complete the Graduation Ticket Survey <\/i><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSf8C2O-WNzXaFx8LNoqLw0oxfqCIGj3F58lU3zMXuu8qzHbOQ\/viewform?usp=send_form\"><i>here<\/i><\/a><i> as soon as possible but no later than April 24 <\/i>to indicate the number of seats you wish to reserve and whether any members of your group require wheelchair-accessible spaces or are hearing impaired (requiring an interpreter). \u00a0After April 24, we will determine how many extra reserved tickets are available, and will let you know if you can have more than 6, if that is what you have requested. \u00a0Please be sure to respond by the 24th so that we don&#8217;t give away reserved seating that you want!<br \/>\n<b>Graduation Speeches and Music<\/b><br \/>\nThe graduation committee is working with the senior class to select faculty speakers, music and class moto. \u00a0Seniors who are interested in speaking at graduation will need to submit a written version of their speech to me by April 24. \u00a0A committee of teachers will ask potential student speakers to deliver their speeches in person and will make the final decision.<br \/>\n<b>Graduation Photographs <\/b><br \/>\nWe are working with local professional photographer Karen Skelly to offer families the opportunity to order graduation photos. \u00a0During the ceremony, Karen will take a photo of each graduate after receiving his\/her diploma backstage. \u00a0In addition, she will take a class photo in the morning during graduation rehearsal and several candids from the ceremony itself. \u00a0Families will be able to order a variety of packages through her website, <a href=\"http:\/\/karenskellyphoto.com\/home\">http:\/\/karenskellyphoto.com\/home<\/a>. \u00a0Bridget has order forms in the Main Office for those who would like to order ahead of the graduation ceremony. \u00a0We will also send out information after the ceremony, letting families know how to view photos and order through her website.<br \/>\nPhew&#8211;that\u2019s it for now, I think! \u00a0Look for more information to come your way closer to graduation and be in touch as questions come up in preparation for this big event.<br \/>\nCheers,<br \/>\nLibby<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dear Seniors and Families, Many thanks to all who joined [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[3,4],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-10457","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-news","category-updates"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/animashighschool.com\/staging\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/10457","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/animashighschool.com\/staging\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/animashighschool.com\/staging\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/animashighschool.com\/staging\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/animashighschool.com\/staging\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=10457"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/animashighschool.com\/staging\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/10457\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/animashighschool.com\/staging\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=10457"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/animashighschool.com\/staging\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=10457"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/animashighschool.com\/staging\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=10457"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
