{"id":13614,"date":"2017-08-25T13:12:53","date_gmt":"2017-08-25T19:12:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/animashighschool.com\/staging\/?p=13614"},"modified":"2017-08-25T13:12:53","modified_gmt":"2017-08-25T19:12:53","slug":"first-quarter-xblocks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/animashighschool.com\/staging\/2017\/08\/25\/first-quarter-xblocks\/","title":{"rendered":"First Quarter XBlocks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear Ospreys and Families,<br \/>\nYesterday afternoon at our all school meeting, staff presented<strong> 1st quarter XBlock<\/strong> classes to all students.\u00a0 XBlock is our physical education program at AHS, and classes meet once a week on Wednesday from 12:43 to 3:25.\u00a0 Tomorrow in core math classes, students will complete an online form they will receive via their AHS email to indicate their top choices.\u00a0 XBlock classes begin next Wednesday, August 30 and 1st quarter XBlock classes meet seven times, through October 11.<br \/>\nMany of the XBlock classes are free, while some require a fee.\u00a0 See below for details.<br \/>\nMost of our XBlock classes take place off campus and students are released from their XBlock location at the end of the day.\u00a0 The off-campus XBlocks travel to their locations from AHS by bus, unless otherwise noted.\u00a0 Students are allowed to drive themselves from campus to XBlock locations but may not transport other students with the exception of siblings.\u00a0 The Hub Bus from AHS to DHS runs on Wednesdays for those who are on campus.\u00a0 Please note that 9R does not allow students to bring skateboards or scooters on their busses unless they fully enclosed in bags.<br \/>\nStudents are required to complete three years of XBlock to graduate from AHS, even if they are participating in team sports.\u00a0 All 9th, 10th and 11th grade students are required to take XBlock; most seniors have already completed this requirement, but they are welcome to attend XBlock as helpers for staff. <strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>For those who participate in organized sports, we offer Athlete Study Hall.<br \/>\n<strong><em>XBlock is graded on a pass\/fail basis, and in order to receive credit, students must attend a minimum of 70% of the time.\u00a0 This includes both excused and unexcused absences.\u00a0 For 1st quarter, that means students must be present for at least five of the seven classes or they will need to repeat XBlock senior year.<\/em><\/strong> \u00a0Please make every effort not to schedule appointments during XBlock.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/174Knj2QNIXuUadVv6ENPTeN2UfbbktijADQMDxoxD14\/edit?usp=sharing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Options for 1st quarter XBlock<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\nPlease let me know if I can answer any questions about our XBlock program.<br \/>\nCheers,<br \/>\nLibby<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dear Ospreys and Families, Yesterday afternoon at our all school [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[3,4],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-13614","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-news","category-updates"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/animashighschool.com\/staging\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/13614","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/animashighschool.com\/staging\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/animashighschool.com\/staging\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/animashighschool.com\/staging\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/animashighschool.com\/staging\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=13614"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/animashighschool.com\/staging\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/13614\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/animashighschool.com\/staging\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=13614"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/animashighschool.com\/staging\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=13614"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/animashighschool.com\/staging\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=13614"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
