{"id":18356,"date":"2018-08-16T18:44:09","date_gmt":"2018-08-17T00:44:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/animashighschool.com\/staging\/?p=18356"},"modified":"2018-08-16T18:44:09","modified_gmt":"2018-08-17T00:44:09","slug":"dear-ahs-class-of-2021-students-and-families","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/animashighschool.com\/staging\/2018\/08\/16\/dear-ahs-class-of-2021-students-and-families\/","title":{"rendered":"Dear AHS Class of 2021 Students and Families"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>We are looking forward to welcoming sophomores back to school next Tuesday, including several new students in the Class of 2021! <\/em><\/strong><br \/>\nHopefully you have had a chance to read the Welcome Letter we sent to families last week, chock full of information about the start of the school year; if not, you can view that letter <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/animashighschool.com\/staging\/welcome-letter-2018-19\/\">here<\/a><\/strong>.<br \/>\nOur 10th grade students will spend the first two days of the school year in Advisory groups, engaged in a wide range of orientation activities that will set them up for success in the year ahead. All days begin and end at AHS, with a start time of 8:25 and release at 3:25.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Tuesday<\/strong>, 10th graders will meet at school in the morning, starting the day with a potluck breakfast on campus and then traveling to Lake Nighthorse. We will provide a handful of paddle boards and PFDs for student use on a rotating basis. Thank you for leaving your personal watercraft and life jackets at home.<\/li>\n<li><strong><em>Please bring:<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><em>something to contribute to the potluck breakfast<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>a sack lunch<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>a water bottle<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>a small notebook and pen<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>dry clothes<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>a \u00a0a pair of dry shoes<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>a towel<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>sunscreen and a hat<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong><em>Please wear:<\/em><\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><em>appropriate swimwear<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>closed-toed shoes that can get wet <\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong><em>Please make sure that your student has any emergency medication that could possibly be needed (e.g. EPI Pens, inhalers, Glucagon) with him\/her prior to leaving home in the morning on Tuesday.<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Wednesday<\/strong>, students in all grades will be on campus for the day, and we will end the day with our first NEST Meeting of the year, gathering together as a full school community to kick off the year. <strong><em>Catered lunch begins on this day.<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Thursday <\/strong>is the first day of academic classes for all students. <strong><em>This is the first day that students will need their laptop computers; please leave them home Tuesday and Wednesday.<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><em>All students will have their school photos taken on Thursday for Student ID Cards<\/em><\/strong>, which will be issued within the first two weeks of school.
