{"id":20179,"date":"2019-04-05T11:09:23","date_gmt":"2019-04-05T17:09:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/animashighschool.com\/staging\/?p=20179"},"modified":"2019-04-05T11:09:23","modified_gmt":"2019-04-05T17:09:23","slug":"psat-and-sat-information","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/animashighschool.com\/staging\/2019\/04\/05\/psat-and-sat-information\/","title":{"rendered":"PSAT and SAT Information"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hello Osprey Students and Families,<\/span><br \/>\n<b>Next Tuesday, April 9, we will be administering the Colorado <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/collegereadiness.collegeboard.org\/psat-8-9\"><b>PSAT8\/9<\/b><\/a><b>, <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/collegereadiness.collegeboard.org\/psat-nmsqt-psat-10\"><b>PSAT10<\/b><\/a><b> and <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/collegereadiness.collegeboard.org\/sat\"><b>SAT<\/b><\/a><b> to all 9th, 10th and 11th graders, respectively<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. There will be no classes in session and students will have early release once they have completed testing. <\/span><b><i>Seniors have the day off to work on Senior Project TED Talks and Action Projects at home.<\/i><\/b><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here are some important reminders:<\/span><br \/>\n<b>Arrive to School by 8:25<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">arrive <\/span><b>well rested and fed <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">with a plan to do something healthy after testing is complete<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">all students will <\/span><b>check in with Kyle or Libby at tables by the entrance to each building<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to learn where to go for testing<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>students who arrive after testing has begun will be sent home<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and will need to test on the make-up date, April 23<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>What to Bring<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>battery-operated<\/b> <b>calculator with new\/extra batteries<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for the math section (see approved list <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/collegereadiness.collegeboard.org\/sat\/taking-the-test\/calculator-policy\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">here<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">)&#8211;<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">we will have a limited number of calculators to loan out; students can complete the test without using a calculator<\/span><\/i><\/li>\n<li><b>#2 pencils<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (no mechanical pencils allowed)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Cell Phones<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">phones must be <\/span><b>powered off and collected<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for the entire duration of testing; if a cell phone rings during testing it may invalidate scores for all students in the room&#8211;<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">please consider leaving cell phones at home or in cars when possible<\/span><\/i><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Food<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">there will be <\/span>no catered lunch<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> available as students without extended time will finish testing by 12:30<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>snacks<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will be available in the hall before the test and during breaks, thanks to parents who are providing them;<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> please bring snacks to the main office by the end of day on Monday if you have signed up to provide them<\/span><\/i><b><i>&#8211;we could still use some more folks to sign up for pretzels, veggies and yogurt squeezes&#8211;<\/i><\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/1UO7PnHHYTb0yBoceYeOF2yAedpLEtPwYIS7BxXBrYpo\/edit#gid=0\">sign up here<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>no eating in the testing rooms <\/b><\/li>\n<li>a <b>water bottle that can be kept on the floor<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Breaks during Testing<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">students may use the bathroom or leave rooms to get a snack\/drink but must be absolutely silent<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">hallways will be monitored <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">students may not read or access phones during testing even if they finish a section early<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Early Release<\/b><br \/>\nAll students will be released when their testing ends<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/collegereadiness.collegeboard.org\/psat-8-9\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PSAT 8\/9<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is 2 hours 35 minutes long; <\/span><b><i>9th graders will be released by 11:30<\/i><\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/collegereadiness.collegeboard.org\/psat-nmsqt-psat-10\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PSAT10<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is 2 hours 55 minutes long; <\/span><b><i>10th graders will be released by 12:00<\/i><\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/collegereadiness.collegeboard.org\/sat\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SAT<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is 3 hours 15 minutes long; <\/span><b><i>11th graders taking SAT without essay will be released by 12:30<\/i><\/b><\/li>\n<li><b><i>11th graders who have elected to take the SAT with essay will be released by 1:30<\/i><\/b><\/li>\n<li><b><i>students with extended time will be released later than 12:30<\/i><\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the <\/span><b>Hub Bus will run<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at its regular time<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">students will be asked to be outside the buildings once they finish testing so that the halls remain quiet<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">we will provide supervision for students who stay until 3:40<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Communication <\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bridget will be proctoring and therefore not available to answer phone calls during testing<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">contact Libby in case of emergency by email or voicemail; she will be monitoring hallways and able to check both<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Opting Out<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">students opting out must provide <\/span><b>letter\/email from parent\/guardian to Libby before Tuesday morning<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We recognize that PSAT\/SAT testing can cause stress, as SAT scores may play an important role in college admissions for some students. That said, we know that our students are prepared and are far more than test scores.
