After graduation, she traveled to Kenya with two friends from Dartmouth (Fred and Milton Ochieng\u2019) to build a medical clinic in their rural village, Lwala. Between Kenya and Animas, Ashley worked for the International Rescue Committee in Seattle as she led a cultural orientation and English language program for recently resettled refugees; started a project-based learning school-within-a-school at Basalt Middle School; and completed her Master\u2019s in Education Policy, Organization and Leadership at Stanford University. Growing up with the mountains of Colorado as her playground instilled in Ashley a strong sense of place rooted in scree fields, aspen tree groves and small mountain towns. When Ashley\u2019s not in her classroom, you might find her on a remote trail\u00ad\u00ad\u2013 running, mountain biking or skiing.
