Why Animas?
Animas High School is a tuition–free, public charter school open to all. Founded locally in 2009 and chartered through the Colorado Charter School Institute (CSI), AHS has a proven track record of preparing students for college and postsecondary success. CSI has awarded AHS their highest rating, Performance with Distinction, based on our academic, financial and organizational performance.
Our innovative, project-based curriculum engages students in their education, creating critical thinkers, strong problem solvers, articulate presenters and emotionally intelligent young adults. Our tight, inclusive school community is made up of 250 students and 35 talented, compassionate educators. The AHS culture is one where respect, honest communication, kindness and consideration of others is expected and encouraged.
We are located on the Fort Lewis College campus, in a beautiful solar-powered, newly constructed building specifically designed to support our unique curriculum and programs.
