Our mission as a school is to prepare all students for postsecondary success. College and career prep begins in 9th grade and students are guided through a rigorous process of skill building and self discovery, equipping them to see how various postsecondary pathways connect to their own interests, talents and passions. Students explore careers though comprehensive programming that aligns with the Colorado work-based learning continuum, including career fairs, worksite visits, CTE classes, industry-sponsored projects, Sophomore Inspire Week, LINK Internships, apprenticeships and more. Concurrent enrollment opportunities include on-campus classes in partnership with Pueblo Community College and classes at Fort Lewis College.
We believe that ensuring access to postsecondary education for all students is our responsibility as a school. Applying to college and completing the FAFSA are AHS graduation requirements. We provide the support needed to navigate this process for students and families.
The majority of AHS students attend 4-year colleges after graduation. Students also pursue a variety of other paths, including attending 2-year colleges and trade schools, serving in the military, entering the workforce and exploring gap year experiences. When alumni come back to visit, they share that AHS prepared them well for adulthood, giving them confidence, skills and knowledge that serve them well in a variety of professions.
Alumni who need AHS transcripts sent to colleges and universities should complete the Transcript Request Form.
